Online CELBAN
21 September 2020
Touchstone Institute and The Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks would like to thank you for your patience during this period of exam cancellations due to the pandemic. We recognize the considerable impacts the temporary interruption of CELBAN has had on internationally educated nurses (IENs).
We are pleased to share that CELBAN is moving to an online, computer-based delivery model. This means CELBAN will no longer be administered in-person at existing test sites in Canada. You will soon be able to complete your CELBAN securely, at home with a stable internet connection, or at a designated test centre provided by our online delivery provider. The interactive nature of the CELBAN Speaking test will be maintained through an online interview, as this is a key component to an authentic and highly relevant language assessment of IENs’ communicative competence.
The CELBAN Centre will still register and issue results to examinees and will continue to deliver the personalized customer service that we currently offer. We have planned for a seamless transition for IENs and regulatory partners. We aim to relaunch CELBAN with online delivery in early 2021 so you can get back to taking the exam and meet your timeline in a safe manner. In advance of this relaunch we will be making new test practice materials available for free to help you prepare for CELBAN in its new format.
We will be updating The CELBAN Centre and Touchstone Institute websites as more information becomes available. Those wishing to register for the exam, please periodically check back to our website and monitor your email for our upcoming newsletter releases in the coming months (sign up for our newsletter here if you haven’t already).
